Dear Classmates,
At this time of year just ask yourself - wouldn't I rather
be in Florida? Preferably with a few friends, hanging out under the
palms near Sarasota, having lunch, a few pops, maybe a round of golf and
then dinner at a casual restaurant on the water?
Then mark your calendars for Thursday, March 10, 2011,
thanks to arrangements made by Don Swan and the
undersigned.
We'll
gather about 11:30 a.m. at the lovely and challenging
Oaks Club in
Osprey, FL. After lunch we'll join a men's golf tournament at 1 p.m.,
shotgun start. Ladies are welcome to play together on the Oaks' other
course.
Following
golf we'll have dinner around 6:30 p.m. at the nearby
Casey Key Fish House, where
pelicans soar, and white egrets stroll.
The tab for greens fee, cart and lunch will be $115, payable to Don Swan by check or cash at the club on March 10. Rental clubs are available for $20.
Any questions, contact me, Barefoot Joe at
mc.ginj@verizon.net .
Carpe Diem!
Best
regards,
Joe
McGinity
JOE"S REPORT:On an unseasonably cool day in Florida, 8 classmates
gathered at The Oaks Club in Osprey, FL for the annual "Grip it and Rip it”
golf outing: Dick Edmunds, Rob Walker, Andy Higgins, Larry Larkin, Scott McWhinnie, Sam
Leisring, Joe McGinity and our host, Don Swan. We met at Don and Brenda’s home
overlooking the scenic par 3 third hole on the golf course. After lunch at the
club, Maureen McG, Louise Higgins and Marsha Leisring visited the nearby
Ringling Bros. museums, while the "magnificent 7” played the Eagle course.
Higgins scored a 79 in difficult conditions to take top honors, but we all had a
great time on the challenging course.
Afterwards, Judy Edmunds and Suzanne McWhinnie joined us for
an excellent dinner at the Casey Key Fish House.
