MEET THE UNDERGRADUATE CREW

Matt Jacobson '12

Crew Chief
I am currently a Junior Computer Science concentrator pursuing a certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems, as well as following the Pre-Medical track with the hopes of attending Medical School following Princeton.

I worked as a member of the 25th and 35th Reunion crews in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Having worked these crews, I am very confident that I have an intimate knowledge of the planning, set-up, and execution required to ensure an unforgettable experience for the alumni and a smooth experience for the workers.

I have been a competitive swimmer for the past 15 years and am currently on the varsity
Swimming and Diving Team, committing up to 30 hours per week, 50 weeks per year, during
which I have developed an intense drive to succeed and function within the context of a large team.  I have been elected by my teammates as the Swim Team’s official Health and Wellness representative

Additionally, I currently serve as a leader in Princeton’s Outdoor Action Program during
which time I have led groups of 10-12 freshmen through constantly changing environments. Through this program, I have been trained extensively in group dynamics, leadership techniques and have experience maintaining composure while responding to dynamic unpredictable circumstances.

Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to manage the 50th Reunion!  I truly hope I can help make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Assistant Crew Chief
I'm from Winchester, Virginia, where I attended Millbrook High School. I'm a sophomore majoring in Operations Research and Financial Engineering and am a member of the Princeton Charter Club. I enjoy playing soccer and basketball in my spare time. Outside of academics, my interests include investing, politics, and history. I look forward to working on the 50th reunion this year to meet the great class of 1961. I hope to hear many stories of Princeton during their time at the University as well as their perspectives on how it has changed since then. My goal is to make this a memorable experience for your class as you celebrate your 50th reunion.

I grew up in Wellesley, MA and attended Noble and Greenough High School in Dedham.  I ran cross country and  rowed on the crew team all through high school and now I am on the women's varsity lightweight crew team here at Princeton.  I am majoring in Sociology, and am interested in going into marketing when I graduate.  I am a member of Ivy and Kappa Alpha Theta and am also the vice president of PACT (Princeton Against Cancer Together).

I am excited for the 50th reunion because I think it is a really special thing to come back for your 50th reunion and I can't wait to help make it a fun and memorable weekend for all the returning alums!

I’m currently a Junior majoring in Economics. I’m from Essex Fells, NJ and graduated from Delbarton, a private high school in northern New Jersey. At Princeton I play club lacrosse and club hockey, and am also a member of the eating club Cottage (UCC!). I also am in a fraternity (KA) and like to help out with the Big Brothers program in town.

I’m really excited to work reunions this spring because I know how big the 50th is for you guys
as a class. I can’t wait to meet a lot of you and hear stories about how much cooler Princeton was back in the day. This year’s reunions is going to be so much fun, and I want to help make it a weekend you’ll never forget.

I am from Greenwich, CT and attended Greenwich Academy. I am currently in my sophomore year at Princeton and intend to major in politics. I am the Vice President of Event Planning for Pi Beta Phi and am in the Entrepreneur’s Club, Circle of Women, PACT, and am the modeling co-chair for the upcoming Fashion Speaks Fashion Show this spring put on to benefit the Eden Institute and Autism Speaks. My dad was Princeton class of ’86 and my older brother is class of ’11. I am really looking forward to working the 50th reunion because I have seen how excited my dad gets about reunion weekend each and every year and have really enjoyed coming back to campus with him since I was a baby, so having the opportunity to help the alumni celebrate one of their biggest reunions means a lot to me.

I am a member of the computer science department here at Princeton in the class of 2012.  I am from Bloomfield, Michigan and attended Andover High School.  Outside of academics, I am a member of The Ivy Club and play on the varsity soccer team.  This will be my first time working reunions, and I am excited to see the Princeton campus hosting all of its distinguished alumni.  In particular, I cannot wait to meet the alumni celebrating their historic 50th reunion.

I’m so excited to get to meet all the wonderful and successful alumni that attended this wonderful school 50 years ago! I’m going to love hearing about all of your experiences and the academic endeavors that you all pursued here at Princeton.

I am currently a sophomore, intending to major in Sociology. I am on the varsity swim team here at Princeton, and am a member of Cloister. I enjoy spending time outdoors, which is why I am an Outdoor Actions Leader. As an "international" student, from Coquitlam (a suburb of Vancouver), Canada, I am part of the International Student Association of Princeton council, and am responsible for planning ISAP events throughout the year. I attended New Westminster Secondary School and swam all throughout high school. I am very excited to be working the 50th reunion because this is my first time on a reunions crew. I look forward to meeting all the alums and experiencing a famous Princeton tradition!

I am a member of the class of 2014, and l love Princeton.  I come from Lexington, Virginia, a small town in the Shenandoah Valley home to Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute.  I have always wanted to study architecture and came to Princeton where I could pursue the subject in a liberal arts setting.  I am looking to receive Environmental Studies and Urban Studies certificates.  Both my grandfather and his brother are Princeton alumni— Joseph Taylor ’46 and John Taylor ’47.

I am in the class of 2013 from Exton, Pennsylvania. I attended Downingtown East High School where I played varsity soccer all four years and captained the team my junior and senior year. Outside of high school I have traveled across the country and internationally with various teams including the Region I soccer program. As for club, I played for FC DELCO and later FC BUCKS Vipers. In the summer of 2009 my team won the Youth Soccer national championship in the under-18 division. I am a member of the Princeton Women’s Varsity Soccer team here at school. Off the field, I work as an Intramural Supervisor for Campus Recreation. Also, I am a member of the Princeton Chapter of Circle of Women, a group that focuses on education women and girls under privileged countries. I am not sure of my major yet, I am deciding between economics and politics but I want to pursue the political economy certificate either way.

Reunions are a rich tradition at Princeton that I have not yet experienced, but hear great things about the event. I am very excited to partake in the celebration this year as a member of the 50th crew. I have been given an amazing opportunity to study and play soccer at the best university in the world. I feel that working for the class of ’61 will be a small way for me to give back to those who made this opportunity possible for me.

From Moorestown, New Jersey. Graduated from Moorestown High School and likely majoring in History. Sophomore member of the football team. Offensive Lineman. Interested in continuing to play the Tuba and learning other brass instruments after graduation. I am excited to work the 50th reunion to meet the great alumni of Princeton and to hear of their experiences at the university. I would also like to hear any memories they have of Princeton Football.

I was born in Los Angeles California but was raised in Denver Colorado. I attended the private prep school Colorado Academy. At Princeton, I am majoring in English and pursuing a creative writing certificate in fiction. I was recently elected the President of Cloister Inn, and the Undergraduate Student Government Social chair (where I plan both Lawnparties for the year in addition to other school wide events), the Social Chair of my Club Soccer team and an OA leader. When I'm not busy with social obligations, I enjoy reading for pleasure (currently Pale Fire and Atlas Shrugged), listening to the music genre dubstep and watching crazy movies that are banned in America (acquired through dubious means).

I look forward to working the 50th reunion because I put a lot of stock in the advice of my elders. Princeton has changed in many ways since the 50th reunion’s time and I look forward to discussing these changes with the alumni. In the past couple years, the number of Princeton traditions has been reduced substantially; I met with VP Cherrey to discuss possible ways to bring some of these traditions back and/or to create new traditions, I feel that the alumni would provide a unique perspective on this subject and will be able to tell me more about the past traditions than I’ve been able to uncover on my own.

I'm from Houston, TX where I attended St. John's School. At Princeton I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and while not in the E-Quad I play on the Rugby team, and am a member of the Tiger Inn. My first Princeton reunion was my dad's 25th when I was just 8 years old. After freshman year, my dad's 35th came around so I decided to stay on campus to refresh my memory of what a Princeton Reunion entails. I enjoyed it so much I decided to do the same after sophomore year. This year, however, I am excited to say will be my first year working for a reunions crew. I'm excited for this change as an opportunity to interact more with the alumni especially working on one of the bigger crews like the 50th.

Cincinnati, Ohio. Saint Xavier High School, Psychology Major with Neuroscience certificate, member of PUCSDT (Princeton University Competitive Swimming and Diving Team). I love cars and professional soccer, but am a fan of most professional sports.  This is my first opportunity to work a major crew and I heard that they were a lot of fun. Plus, I heard that the 50th was always one of the best.

I am from Hartsville, Pennsylvania.  I went to Central Bucks South High School.  I intend to major in sociology.  I play for the varsity basketball team.  I am excited to work the 50th reunion because I've never been to a reunion before and I can't wait to see what it's all about.
