However, the Marriott web site lists three hotels that are five to nine miles outside of Princeton, more reasonable with a Marriott Senior Rate (as of April 1st) and accept 1-night reservations. These are:

1. Marriott Residence Inn Princeton-So.Brunswick Rt.#1 (5 miles) $212 night with breakfast
2. Courtyard Cranbury-So. Brunswick by NJ Turnpike Exit 8A (9 m) $135 night (senior)
3. Courtyard Ewing-Hopewell off Rt. 95 near Trenton Airport (9 m) $144 night (senior)

The AOL travel website also lists a Best Western and some Red Roof Inns.

MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CLASS OF 1961

Princeton, New Jersey

May 29th, 2009

The class of 1961 annual meeting was called to order at 9:00 PM by President John Graham. The meeting was held at the home of Bob and Mary Pickens in Princeton.

The president thanked Bob and Mary for their hospitality in hosting the reunion dinner and the social hour. A donation to the class scholarship fund was made in their honor.

The minutes of the class annual meeting of May 30th, 2008 were approved.

OLD BUSINESS

The President thanked the class officers for their support and efforts for the past year. Especially Pat Davidson for chairing the previous annual meeting as well as organizing the Yale weekend activities along with Joe McGinity; George Brakeley for his faithful reporting on class activities in PAW, as well as his sensitive treatment of class memorials; Mike Burton for keeping the class financially solvent, and  Len Berton for managing our outstanding web site.

The class also expressed appreciation for the classmates whose leadership made the class activities possible:

·         Reunions - Joe and Ev Prather

·         Yale Game Tailgate - Pat Davidson and Joe McGinity

·         Florida Golf Outing - Don Swan and Joe McGinity

·         Alumni Day Memorial Service - Jon Halfter and George Brakeley

·         Class Dinner in NYC - Frank Richardson and Tom Pulling

NEW BUSINESS

Finance Report

Treasurer Mike Burton reported class funds of $33,600 composed of funds in a money market and checking account in Arvest Bank in Tulsa, plus the class PayPal account.

He also advised that 266 classmates contributed $13,300 in class dues and 84 contributed $5,100 to the class scholarship fund. This was a decline of about 15% from last year.

Annual Giving

On behalf of class co-agents Rick and Kathy Wall, the president reported class participation in Annual Giving at 44%  which compared favorably to last year. It was later reported that the final tally at the end of June 2009 was 61.6% and $169,000 contributed to the University. This was somewhat smaller than last year.
